Getting There
Furano is located in the heart of Hokkaido. This central location is a fantastic hub for adventures and accessing the best skiing in Japan.

Most people get to Furano by flying into Chitose Airport (closest Airport to Sapporo) and taking a resort liner bus from there. There are also many options for rental cars at the airport. We can suggest other rental car options. The drive from Chitose to Furano takes about 2 hours depending on conditions and if you take the toll road. Chitose Airport has it's own natural, open air onsen (hotspring) that is great for taking the edge off your travels.

It is also possible to fly into Asahikawa Airport. There are car rental options at the airport but buses run less frequently than Chitose Airport. This airport is a 45 minute drive from Furano, located in the countryside at the foot of the highest peak in Hokkaido.

There are limited options for purchasing backcountry gear in Furano so you are best to bring everything with you. If you intend to rent, you should consider doing so in advance.
